Our songs travel the earth. We sing to one another. Not a single note is ever lost and no song is original. They all come from the same place and go back to a time when only the stones howled. ― Louise Erdrich, The Master Butchers Singing Club
A male bearded reedling catches a cranefly. This species is a master of balance and the bird was spotted by Dutch photographer Edwin Kats using two stems to position itself over a shallow stream. He noticed the small bird - also know as a bearded tit - looking out for a snack. When a tasty cranefly flitted by, the reedling was able to dip down and catch it in one swift motion.
