My grade teacher read this aloud to our class. Since I had pet turtles, I was quite disturbed by the fate of the one in the book. However, in retrospect, I don't really think it's possible for a child- or an adult- to swallow a turtle.

Little Old Mrs Pepperpot, by Alf Prøysen I loved these books as a child, and my kids loved them too. Pepperpot shrinks at the most inopportune times. Which leads to lots of adventures for the doll size woman.
