Designed by architect Cliff May as his personal residence, the Ranch House is located in the Sullivan Canyon in LA. The goal was to reinstate the original open plan layout while preserving the integrity of May’s exposed wood beam and rafter structure. With its large ridge skylight, the great room acts as the focal point of the house, containing the main living space and kitchen. The interior space also features custom walnut cabinetry and polished concrete floors. experimental ranch

Cliff May Residence. The Experimental Ranch is a great example of how a home can be revived to feel larger and brighter. Skylights and large expansive windows bring in natural light and illuminate the existing wood beams and rafters. The kitchen, living room, and dining room occupy a single, open space that acts as the focal point of the home.
