Why Emma Donoghue will never write a sequel to her novel Room, despite fans begging her to
'Room' (2015) by Lenny Abrahamson. A loving mother and her 5 year old son are imprisoned in a room by an abuser. A big impact film that displays the resilience and bond between parent and child who have been dealt the roughest of ordeals. 'Room' is the story of the strength of a child sheltered from the outside world. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay are the ideal match for these roles. Abrahamson has perfectly constructed a world that transcends the horrors of captivity and claustrophobia, and instead, moulds it into something so much more poetic and important. Motherly love can conquer all.
Tom Ford's 'A Single Man'. Tom Ford is a fashion designer. Seriously...I'm not kidding. He's not a film maker - or that is wasn't a film maker before this. While rather depressing, it's an amazingly well done film. The fact that it's the first effort of a legendary fashion designer makes all the more astounding.
