Shelves on the windows! L.O.V.E. I like the various cupboard door styles!!! Sweet cottage kitchen - white cupboards, some with glass inserts, glass shelves across the window, some open shelves, warm wood counters & floors. Bonus points for chalkboard cupboard, touches of aqua, and especially the cute skirt under the farm sink.

Nice a large chalkboard in the kitchen. But not directly on the wall, by using a large wooden square.

Dark color schemes shrink an already small space and make it less inviting. Use soft shades on kitchen cabinets and natural light to visually expand a small room. BUT... if you want a warm cozy kitchen and yours is small, then go for the warm wood tones - sometimes getting what you love means breaking the rules!
