“A little bad taste is like a nice splash of paprika. We all need a splash of bad taste—it’s hearty, it’s healthy, it’s physical. I think we could use more of it. No taste is what I’m against.” --Diana Vreeland

Lauren Bacall: HER BIG BREAK | Legendary Harper's Bazaar editor Diana Vreeland put the 19-year-old model on the March 1943 cover of the popular fashion magazine, and a star was born. Her photos caught the eye of director Howard Hawks's wife, and Bacall later recalled, it was "the twist of fate that changed my life forever."

Harper's Bazaar 1943, Lauren Bacall styled by Diana Vreeland. Slim Keith (then married to producer Howard Hawks) brought Bazaar to her husband, convinced Lauren would be perfect as Slim Browning in To Have and Have Not. And Slim had no idea Lauren was a trained actress (American Academy of Dramatic Arts)! So thanks to a magazine cover, Lauren became a star and married co-star Humphrey Bogart. She and Slim were friends for life. KA #Cover #Fashion #Magazine
