Eisenhower had served in the United States Army since graduating from West Point military academy in 1915. He commanded the Allied Forces landing in North Africa in November 1942. He was Supreme Commander of the Allied troops invading France on D-Day, 6 June 1944. In 1953 he became the thirty-fourth President of the United States.
Harry S. Truman (May 8, 1884 – December 26, 1972) was the 33rd President of the United States (1945–1953). Seen here in his World War I Army uniform, 1917. During World War I, Truman served in combat in France as an artillery officer in his National Guard unit.
