Midwinter Visitor, an art quilt by Chris Staver. Chris made this while taking Ellen Lindner's online class, Design Your Own Nature Quilt. Chris started with a favorite photo, then used design principles to make some improvements. Her fabric selection created a strong sense of depth.

Cute! Love the bright solid colors. What's appliqued, though? The birds or the background?

appliqué, embroidery and hand quilting ~ peskybombolino. Stunning (good lord - where do i pin it??)

Beautiful bird quilt, and in my two favorite colors. I wonder if the piecing would be easier to do since it is strips vs. squares? Might be harder, keeping such long strips of fabric straight across the width of the quilt.

Crystal Kereiff my mom made me something similar when I was a baby. It had mother goose on it. I still have. We could make one of these when you have a kid.
