Oh LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I have two books of Romanian Embroidery. One of them has plates of designs from different regions that look much like this. Someday when I have lots of time, I'll do a sampler of each. What do you think? Would you do this? From the Bukovina region #embroidery #romanian #sampler
Russian Apron, 1830-1870. Depictions of the goddess are common in Russian embroidery, traditionally associated with fertility. Birds are associated with goddess worship for their proximity to divine beings through their home in the sky. This language of visual motifs originated in Pagan times and continued to be used in embroidery after the Christianization of Russia.
