Making paper plates clocks to learn about telling time is an easy and inexpensive craft activity. When the students have learned the basics of telling time and are ready to move on to learning to tell time in 5 minute intervals, you might want to try using 2 paper plates. The smaller inside plate would have the numbers 1-12 and the larger outside plate could show counting by 5s to help with reading the minutes.

Love this clock idea! The hour hand leaf is little and the minute hand is longer, good reference and something you already have in your classroom and use daily.

If a real clock looked this way, it would be much easier to teach.

I cringe when I have to miss CALENDAR TIME. I LOVE calendar time. You know all those math concepts that kiddos just have to memorize? I present them early on in the year and we use songs, chants, rhymes, and movement to practice them EVERY DAY. Pretty soon it's automatic for my kiddos and we all feel SO SMART!!!
