Spelling Jail for "Rule Breakers" Super cute especially once you introduce them as sight words. They wont have an excuse to continue spelling them wrong.

The Letter Box - Cut out letters from cereal and other miscellaneous food boxes to use in classroom activities.

Have kids find letters or go on a "letter hunt" in kid magazines/ cereal boxes and cut out. Keep letters in a "Letter Box". Let kids arrange letters into words.

I love this "Shake of the Day" for CVC words and the special student of the day gets a 'smartie' for shaking a CVC word :)

Practicing sight words- hang by door and give the hands a high five/say the words every time kids go out/come in the room

Hang the sight word of the week on the door and students "high five" the word and say it as they leave the room. I've also seen teachers put a vocabulary word of the week on the door! Kids see it coming and going!

Students are making words in this activity. They are creating a word in a consonant-vowel-consonant patteren. This could be extended into word families or sight words. Students could do this as word work or at a station. I do this with spelling words.

Sight Word Sticks. Popsicle sticks with sight words are kept together. Students draw a series of sticks and complete a variety of activities - alphabetizing, sentence writing, etc. Great for Spanish vocab!

10 Popsicle stick centers for spelling and/or sight words--good for half of the year. In Sept., write student names on the sticks. Kids copy, then go find each student they wrote. Or ways to practice wood work words?

Love the top reading game for stations! Spin the top & record on a graph which sight word it lands on. If the words were smaller and more on a page, pages can be changed so kids can LEARN their sight words.
