Just did this and it works like a charm - DIY: Swiffer Solution Refill. Just boil some water and hold the lid in the hot water for about 10-20 seconds. Careful, it gets hot! Hold it sideways to avoid the steam. Use a dish rag to twist off the cap.Refill with whatever you want - Pinesol with a bit of water, or vinegar and ammonia with a bit of water, whatever you want. swiffer refill solution: Sunday, September 11, 2011 DIY: Swiffer Solution Refill I found any easy way to refill your swifter wet jet mop! You can fill it with any cleaning solution you want. Let's hear it for saving money! Just boil some water and hold the lid in the hot water for about 10-20 seconds. Careful, it gets hot! Hold it sideways to avoid the steam. Use a dish rag to twist off the cap.

DIY: Reusable Swiffer Wet Jet Pad - I couldn't find the cloth diapers, but I read that mircrofiber cloths are good for polishing wood. I found a 3 pack at the Dollar Store that were 9 by 9 inches-perfect size. So it literally took me 5 minutes to make. Only addition to their tutorial- interfacing to the middle- to make them stiff. So quick and easy!

I would just add that you can always put a few drops of your favourite essential oils to give a nice scent. But it has to be essential, not synthetic.

Homemade Cleaning Solutions - these solutions are effective, economical, and much better for you, your family, and your pets than the harsh chemicals in most cleaning products. I love that I can buy just a handful of products in bulk and cover most, if not all, of my household needs, saving space and packaging! Less waste, less hassle, more clean!

Building It On Pennies: Homemade cleaning solution that is better than Swiffer. Those bottom pads are what came up with the homemade cleaner that she used after the Swiffer (top pad).

Homemade foaming soap: 1 inch of liquid hand soap, Slowly fill the rest of the bottle with tap water. Put lid back on, and gently tip upside down & side to side to mix. Don’t shake (it will get too sudsy)

Pinner says: First thing, I'm curious if the wrinkle release spray will smell like the vinegar at all or if the fabric softener in it will mask it...?? Secondly, I'm cleaning my oven racks tomorrow based on this & I'm excited to see how well it works. And finally, I'm pretty psyched (the little things) to try the armpit stain remover. Seriously ppl, everyone gets those, even a little bit.

I love DIY Cleaning Solutions! I may not always have a special cleaner on hand for a particular job but I usually have these ingredients. As a bonus I'm using mostly natural ingredients and I save money too.
