if there's 3500 calories in one pound of fat, and you do 1000 jumping jacks, you've only burnt 500 calories, which is 1/7 of a pound of fat...anyone else confused?
Huh.... More jumpin jacks fo me I keep seeing this, and the math makes no sense. If every two jumping jacks burn 1 calorie, than 1000 jumping jacks would burn 500 calories. Not 3500. Not a pound of weight. However, jumping jacks are still awesome. Easy to do and get your heart rate up quickly. I do 100-300 a day, spread throughout the day.
1000 jumping jacks every day for a week = one pound gone! now THAT is a work out i can fit into my mother of four crazy life.

So I'm the last person to say that having sore muscles doesn't feel satisfying, but good workouts don't always HAVE to make you sore. Sore muscles just means your muscles were exposed to a stress greater than it's used to. Trying to make yourself sore all of the time reduces the ability for muscles to recover and can lead to strains and tears.

For the last few days I've found myself not getting a solid workout in. Other than teaching Stroller Strides and daily walks with my little one and dog; my home gym has been untouched. Shame on me. The excuses rolling off my tongue were endless.... It's too cold in the gym. It's too rainy to run. I'm too tired to workout. I'm too busy. And my favorite: I'm pregnant. Um, the benefits of keeping up with workouts while pregnant greatly outweigh what happens when you STOP working out while pregnant. Especially when your OB gives you the go ahead to continue your workouts! Here's 33 reasons why exercising is amazing for you and your growing baby. So today, when the sun crept through my curtains and slowly woke me up at 7 (yes, I know that's not really an early wake up...), I knew my afternoon workout was going to get put off like it has been days before. I quietly got out of bed to not disrupt the sleeping Husband and was determined to fit in a morning workout. Plans change. That sleeping Husband was now a half way awake Husband. Fair game for me to ask him to join me in a workout, right? Today's workout was brought to us by the magically powers of Pinterest! It took us 25 minutes to go through the entire routine 3 times. On the last set of 30 lunges, the Husband crapped out and said he was done half way through the lunges. Excuse me? I think not. I threatened with, "I will blog that you wimped out on your pregnant wife." He finished his last set. L: Husband sad about his wall sit. Top R: YAY for a workout! Bottom R: Sleeping puppy Bed head, morning breath but got to spend 25 minutes working out together; martial bliss!
