Good old Martha taught us that rather than buying those ridiculously expensive anti-slip mats for a rug, just turn it over and run a few lines of acrylic-latex caulk every 6 inches or so. Let dry and flip over and your rug wont be going anywhere!

wish I knew this years ago- Right after using the grill, unplug it and place a wet double-sheet of paper towel between the lid and the surface. The leftover heat causes the towel to steam and clean the grill. Wiping it dry with another paper towel is all that’s needed. I'm going to try with waffle iron.

Refreshing towels I use this trick all the time since I noticed my towels smelling funky. It works! - Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelly. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and 1cup vinegar, then a 2nd time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!

A simple bedtime trick! Then, a comment after the post that I want to remember: "When we were kids growing up,our bedtime was always at 8, but if we were in bed by 7:30, we could stay up reading until 8:30. It not only taught us that reading was a reward and not a punishment, but it also got us in bed earlier – extra bonus points for mom!" Hmmmm....?

When you paint a room, put some extra paint in a baby jar* and keep it handy for quick touch-ups. pinner said *I did this Aug. 2011 - don't use a baby food jar - use a peanut butter jar that has a PLASTIC lid or it will rust - that was a tip from my painter - it's all stored in a cabinet in the house - just take it out and shake well and use a q-tip for quick touch ups. This has got to be one of the best things I've ever pinned!!!!

Seriously, how many buttons could I have saved if I had known this before?! Clear nail polish - if coated onto the threads of a button keeps it from unraveling.
