After the coloured first thin coat of plaster completely covers the clay, mix a double cream consistency of uncovered plaster. The plaster we are using for the mould is pottery plaster, it sets quickly, takes a good impression yet is easy to chip off at the end of the process. One the uncoloured plaster is mixed, dip jute scrim into the plaster, gently wind through the plaster into a lose rope and then place onto the first coat next to the shim wall. This creates a strong wall of plaster.
