These long Charleston piazzas became all weather playgrounds where the cousins played as children. Charleston, SC. Photo taken 4 August 2011. This Charleston single house located at 165 Tradd Street was constructed sometime after the Great Fire of 1861 but before the Earthquake of 1886 when it appears appeared in contemporary photographs as largely undamaged. In the same photographs the house appears to have been painted in multiple shades and tones which was the custom of the period…
