As Queen Beatrix’s eldest child, Prince Willem-Alexander is first in line of succession to the throne. Since the Queen’s investiture on 30 April 1980, Prince Willem-Alexander has borne the title of Prince of Orange, which is held by the heir to the throne. The Prince is married to Princess Máxima. They have three daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane.
On 30 April 1980, Princess Beatrix succeeded her mother, Juliana, as Queen of the Netherlands. She was married to His Royal Highness Prince Claus of the Netherlands. They had three sons, Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince Friso and Prince Constantijn.
