Rhubarb is an extremely hardy vegetable used as a fruit. It grows in all zones and the most significant requirement is fertile, well-drained soil. Choose an area such as the back of the garden or going upwards a foot or two on a berm. Preparing the ground is simple; cultivate it and work in some compost. It is good for the Earth and good for the plants you grow. Compost adds some of the vitamins, minerals, and texture that the rhubarb plant will be looking for to thrive.
