U.S. Navy Photographer's Mate 1st Class N.R. Hertel attached with the 196th Signal Photo Company holds his Bell & Howell 35mm Eyemo 71-Q motion picture camera and a Kodak 35 rangefinder camera around his neck. U.S. Navy and U.S. Army photographer's made up the 196th Signal Photo Company in 1943.

The belfry in the background would unravel the entire story this photo. Unfortunately there is no provenance for the photo, but there are clues in the photo. "51" is for a senior tank regiment as seen in the flash and "follow me" sign. Unusually specific about platoon on the box. Romanesque style of the belfry with the space for a clock suggest this is a 19th century building.
