I love the idea of doing this to my hair, but I have two problems: 1, what the heck do you do in step 5? Seriously, what? and 2, I really don't understand how to work bobby pins. This is why I'm afraid that I'll show up to my friend's wedding with my hair in a ponytail because I don't know what else I can do with it. 1. Use a 1″ curling iron to curl everything under. This will make it easier to tuck pieces into the bun 2. Flip your hair over and gather everything into a ponytail on top of you head, securing it with an elastic ponytail holder. Step 3: On the last time around with the ponytail holder, only pull the ponytail through half way. 4. Take the loop you’ve created and spread it out. Just widen it and allow it to be somewhat messy. 5. Take the tail end and wrap it around the ponytail base.
Knot your average pony. **I tried this in my own hair... even though I have lots of long, thick hair, this style made me look like I had none! Seriously... I lost seven inches off the length of my pony tail :( Check out my "French Knotted Pony" for a variation I made... leaves more length and fullness in your pony tail, and makes for a super cool look!
I tried this last night when the kids were in bed, just to see if it's that easy and it is. I did 8 sections instead of 4 and I got a ton of volume with my short hair. Also, I did a side part because I don't like a middle part on me. I did not realize the trick to curling was doing it all in the same direction and a flattering direction at that.
THE FUN BUN aka how to do a top knot. this is actually really easy for short-ish hair too! just a few more bobby pins keeping the hair up top.

If I could get my girls to sit long enough upside down! French plait and bun. Put your head down and brush hair forward. Add product to root to start off plait more easily. French plait bottom up until you get to where you want the bun. Secure the plait with a hair tie. Gather all your hair into a high ponytail and check it in the mirror. Pin as a bun
Tutorial: Prim & Proper for the Modern Bride. I wore this to work the other day and it held up beautifully with only 2 elastics and 4 bobby pins! If you know me, you know I have extremely thick, wavy hair, so that's definitely saying something!
