Great Gardens Ideas **Holly hocks in the south were always planted where the Ladies outhouse was so they never had to ask anyone!

These might be what those flowers outside Urban Diner are, @mquilty. They're beautiful! Hollyhocks - one of my favorite plants. Against this grey exterior, the placement is nostalgic and belongs in an cottage garden.

Hollyhocks. The non powderpuff kind are so lovely. Ancient. The bottoms get raggedy but so what?

English Garden! Imagine having a beautiful garden just like this one! Love it! Aline

To me this seems very 'English'. A garden I'd love to have.

perennials and annuals at Kew Gardens - try asters, Verbena bonariensis, salvia, foxtail barley

Peony and Iris border: Neighbors down the street have an old stone wall out by the road. A border of pink peonies and various shades of purple and lilac irises grows in front of it. What a glorious sight it is each year.

Wow! Gorgeous...pinks and purples and the lime greens in the plants and flowers work so well together...

I hearby claim peonies as my favorite flower. The anticipation of the flowers blooming makes my spring, and they usually bloom right around my birthday.
