Quite a contrast from how European-religious leaders treated child birth! South American deity of labor, child birth, & the 'female' warrior. Labor & delivery was so respected as to be revered as the battle between good & evil. Women who died in child birth were given a Warrior's burial - they are considered to have died fighting for all of humanity.

Such volutes were affixed to the drums of small stupas to support garlands of flowers. These auspicious figures are among the earliest forms of sculptural embellishment found at Gandharan Buddhist sites.

The Sky Disc of Nebra: 3,600 years old. Was used as an advanced astronomical clock and was found near Europe's oldest observatory in Goseck. The 32-centimeter-wide (seven-inch) bronze disc with gold-leaf appliqués representing the sun, the moon, and the stars is the oldest visual representation of the cosmos known to date. A cluster of seven dots has previously been interpreted as the Pleiades constellation as it appeared 3,600 years ago.

The biggest hoard of celtic silver coins ever found in Switzerland has been unearthed in the village of Füllinsdorf, in the northwestern canton of Basel Country.

The Edwin Smith papyrus, the world’s oldest surviving surgical document. Written in hieratic script in ancient Egypt around 1600 B.C.

One of the 2 "Pictish class III cross-slabs" from St. Peters church in Invergowrie. These date from the 10th century. The three figures are possibly apostles. This is now safely looked after by the National Museum of Scotland.

This is the carved scene of the rear of the Fowlis Wester stone. There are mounted battle figures, but also cattle - perhaps the story of the Golden Calf, in a typical mix of Pictish and Christian motifs.
