NUT TREE - Vacaville - My grandparents started stopping here when it first opened when they drove from San Jose to Orland CA--then parents then grandchildren--now great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren since it reopened.
Nut Tree, Vacaville, CA. The sign is all that remains of our amazing Nut Tree except the Harbison House which they moved out of the way for parking lots and stores! YUK. I miss the Nut Tree!!!

Nut Tree. http://www.alamedainfo.com/Nut_Tree_CA_Dining_Room_Interior_PC.jpg - We used to go here sometimes for birthdays or on the way back from San Fransisco.
A visit to this oasis of creativity and quality made the drive to/from Nor and So California a delight.

When we I was little the Nut Tree was halfway between my house and my grandparents. If we were lucky, Poppy Jim would buy us a treat in the candy/toy shop.
This shop is from the 1960s. I love the monochromatic color scheme with the orange. It gives this space a very fun and energetic mood as the kids explore all the toys! The orange compliments the wood and ties the space together.

The Nut Tree in Vacaville, CA during the 1950's. Much of the design was the creation of Don Birrell. He introduced high California modernism to the farming fields of central California. The Nut Tree had Eames chairs in the Toy Shop, and Dansk flatware in the Dining Room.
Nut Tree Restaurant - I remember eating here as a kid and getting the tiny loaves of bread. The glass area was a huge aviary. Too bad it's gone.

Old Olive Tree -- our faith has to be nourished in order to be well rooted and able to withstand trials and tests. If it is, our faith will produce beautiful works, and fruitage to God's praise. lσvє ♥ #bluedivagal, bluedivadesigns.wordpress.com

Ceiba speciosa (formerly Chorisia speciosa, silk floss tree, toborochi tree, drunken tree) belongs to same family as baobab and kapok and is native to tropical and subtropical forests of South America. Its trunk is bottle-shaped, generally bulging in its lower third, measuring up to 2 meters in girth. The tree is also well known for the large spikes protecting the trunk and the limbs.
