Great poster to hang up in a writing center for children to refer to when they need a transition word.
Transition Words -- break this up into separate lessons and let students practice coming up with sentences before expecting them to use in their writing. This could be a good handout for ELLs.

The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant. With this classic picture book, second graders are learning about schema and making personal connections to the books they read.
The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant I gave a copy of this book to each of my student teachers every semester simply because no classroom should be without it.
Author: Cynthia Rylant. Reading level: K(guided reading) Summary: A story about having relatives over during one that one summer. Nice mentor text for introducing memoirs.
Cynthia Rylant's The Relatives Came, a children's story that depicts the goings-on of family get-togethers -- the excitement and feasting, hugging and catching up on stories. One of my favorite works of children's literature.

My Teacher's Secret Life: book & writing assignment. Would be super cute to see what they come up with!
cute writing assignment- My Teacher's SECRET Life! Love this book ... fun for when you have a substitute.
Fun writing assignment: read the book My Teacher's Secret Life, then have students write their own thoughts about YOUR secret life!
Writing Assignment- Start by reading the book My Teacher's Secret Life by Stephen Krensky. Students then brainstorm about what their teacher's "secret life" might be, and create a circle map to include any ideas they have. They then create a flow map to create their story, drafting, peer conferencing, revising, editing, and illustrating. Wonderfully imaginative stories can then be put into a class book and saved by the teacher.
This is a fun writing assignment!!! students write about their teachers' s "secret life".

This is just the anchor chart. The whole lesson is hands on paragraph writing. Stoplight Paragraphs
Stoplight Paragraphs: this anchor chart gives students the knowledge they need to write a well developed paragraph. Not only does it act as a reminder, but the following activity gives students the opportunity to "cut" up a paragraph into the topic sentence, supporting details, and closing sentence. This can also be a reading strategy for the junior grades, as more informational text can be better understood by finding the thesis and supporting details, and conclusion. @amandarogers21 @kc2102

Leader in Me - Oak Grove School: Hamburger Rubric. Good visual/metaphor to get kids thinking about the quality of their work
This creates a visual for a rubric. The hamburger rubric is a great idea. It allows students to have a visual cue and new terms for their writing assignment. If a teacher recieves 'gettting started work' the student can go to this display and see what needs to be done to improve their writing.

writing Rubric the kids will get this! (kids? I think my college students need this sometimes)
Norm: This is the hamburger model which can be used as a rubric to evaluate student work. I would like to use this in my classroom because students know what a deluxe burger should look like which also means that they know what work looks like when it includes all details necessary. Students could use the hamburger rubric to peer grade assignments that the teacher can look over as well. This provides students with an engaging way to learn from their peers by communicating ideas of deluxe work.
