This is an Amish lady, we are not Amish. But Mema churned some butter, so sad what kids are missing out on today. Oh well, she would let us churn, but not get the butter out!! Her solid round block of butter always had a palm tree on top, too cool.
Women wear long dark colored clothes covered with a cape and apron. They never cut their hair and they don’t wear any jewelry. If the woman is married, she wears a white cape. If she is single, she wears a black cape.
"Everything within the house is functional. To preserve the religious value prohibiting pride and vanity, pictures and photographs are not hung on the walls for decoration" from Welcome to Lancaster County's Amish House
