GUN OF THE DAY – Smith & Wesson Schofield Revolver.This week’s NRA Gun Gurus presented by Henry Repeating Arms episode, “Guns of the Old West," features today’s GOTD. This Smith & Wesson came on the frontier scene shortly after the Colt Single Action Army, but left its mark in the West. The Second Model Schofield single action revolver, was like the Colt, in .45 caliber, but utilized a shorter metallic cartridge. From 1876 to 1877 almost 6,000 Second Model Schofields were produced.
