One Thousand Gifts/Ann Voskamp: I have actually been reluctant to re-read this book, afraid that it would resonate less than it did the first time. I shouldn't have worried. Gratitude, grace, and a good God can never be preached too often. The chapter on trust and stress remains my favourite.
Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White. This was one of my favorite books as a child, and I started reading it aloud to my kids when they were about four years old. They loved it, and I discovered that it's short enough to read to them in just a few days. The only problem is that every time, I wind up a sobbing mess at the end!
Autobiography of Malcolm X, 1965 (Grove Press). Objectors have called this seminal work a “how-to-manual” for crime and decried because of “anti-white statements” present in the book. The book presents the life story of Malcolm Little, also known as Malcolm X, who was a human rights activist and who has been called one of the most influential Americans in recent history.
