Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris. After learning the devastating reason why vampire hunk Eric Northman has been cooling on their relationship, clairvoyant waitress Sookie Stackhouse becomes embroiled in a shocking murder that sends all of Bon Temps reeling.
These are up there with Gabaldon's Outlander series for me. Karen Moning is like the Michelangelo of creating sexy leading male characters. (I loved Barrons in her Fever series). Of the Highlander books, my faves are "Kiss" and "Dark" (MUST be read in order) and then "Tame." It doesn't get much better than Drustan, Dageus and Grimm.
