Elephants are a drastically underrated creature. Their beauty is subtle but remarkable and their strength is admirable. By far my favorite animal.

"This photo touches my heart. Elephants prove that animals do have feelings and emotions, for elephants will rejoice when reunited with a loved one or a long lost friend, and they will grieve just as humans do when they lose someone they love. And perhaps most admirable, they are often willing to fight to the death if need be just to protect the very youngest and most helpless members of the herd. These beautiful, giant beasts demonstrate the meaning of unconditional love." ~Skye

These sweet creatures are being slaughtered on a daily basis across Africa almost to the point of extinction. They are being maimed and left to suffer, as poachers hack off entire trunk sometimes just to get tusks for ivory. Over 1/2 of the elephant pop. of Sudan alone was killed in a few days by these raiders. #SaveTheElephants Go to #savetheelephants.org to learn more or to help.

If things keep going the way they are now. There won't be two elephants so this picture could be taken again.

Touching - the absolute reason I adore elephants. Their compassion is so beautiful!

Did you know: The fate of African and Asian elephant rests almost solely with China. The Chinese demand for ivory is so high that if they killed ALL the elephants in Africa, there would not be nearly enough to meet demand. Over 90% of ivory in China is illegal.

I'm speechless. Look at those eyes!!! There is so much love in these eyes and when you look again you notice the heartshapes. Stunning, just absolutely stunning.

Elephants are some of the most physically comforting animals, just like humans they long for touch and intimacy with their family and friends.

The eyes say it all. How can anyone not believe that animals have a soul; look at those eyes; fear and relief are there. Bless you, Mr. Fireman!
