    Drill holes, insert marbles. Random is cute... Maybe a pattern, or even something like a mosaic? If no fence is available, or if it's shared with an unwilling neighbor, perhaps a piece of unique art using old lumber or summat, staged elsewhere in the garden.

      I don't have a wooden fence, but kind of fascinated by this idea - drill holes in an existing privacy fence and pop in glass marbles - when the sun streams through this is lovely!
