This is a great idea, even for dog gates! Dutch Door Baby Gate - Use an old door, cut in half & installed as a baby gate.

Half door baby gate. We don't have stairs, or a baby, but this is a great idea!

dutch door baby gate=using a door they found at a garage sale for $5. They cut the door in half, installed the first half at the bottom of the stairs and used the other half at the top of the stairs. It would be even better if they could be pocket doors. GENIUS! So much cuter than baby gates!

(or dogs jumping over!)" Not having kids any time soon, but this is freaking genius haha

A secured-to-the-wall half door instead of a wedged in baby gate. Interesting. Bonus is that it doesn't have to be permanent if you don't want it to be...unscrew it, patch things up. Voila!

Genius! half door for any baby/kids room so you can hear if they wake, but they can't wander the house alone or play in their room while u cook, shower, clean.

The children's suite are located on the second floor. The girl's room are joined together with Dutch doors, which allows them to share the space and have privacy when needed.

DIY Dutch Doors (instead of dog/baby gates). This can be made taller than the normal baby gate.

Homey and character-rich. Drenched in that vintage French sunlight that makes time slow down

Dutch or Split Door Tutorial Using a Hollow Core Door..step by step instructions. PERFECT for dogs and toddlers! ;)

Half Door Tutorial. I would like these for our kids's rooms. Room time would be a bit more visible. Also, individual play time in there wouldn't be as secluded... I could still see the older ones playing with toys not for little ones, while keeping little ones out... Christina Heddell

I share your love of dutch doors thebeesknees, we want one for Will's room :)

Dutch doors are darling. This one is missing the "shelf" they usually have at the top of the bottom door. Handy for leaning on while you enjoy your domain

I love everything about this little side room: the dutch doors, the horse shoe over the door, the dog (except in my case it would have to be a black lab mix) laying on the rug, the counter with the curtains below, the light fixture, the barn door cabinets to the right (at least that's what I think they are?)...just adorable ♥

LOVE!! barn door baby gate or pet gate!! Our pets and baby have outgrown the Dutch door we made at our house, but now it serves as a noise block from the AC/heater, without blocking to much air for the return. We made ours from a core door cut in 1/2 with a shelf on top. I like this one better.
