      Columbo was a TV series starring Peter Falk. It was a great detective show and won many awards. The pilot was aired in 1968. It was originally on as a series from 1971-1978. Later, it returned as a short series and a few made-for-tv movies from 1989-2003.

    Telly Savalas won the Best Actor Emmy for his portrayal of Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak, NYPD. Kojaks Greek American heritage was used throughout the series. (Savalas is also a Greek American.) Kojak was known for his lollypop that he began to carry when he quit smoking in real life. Kojak is a well written detective show that shows the dark side of the 70s New York City. ONE OF THE BEST 70s DETECTIVE SERIES!!
