Women’s attire during the Elizabethan era consisted of gowns, hats, corsets, underwear, collars, ruffs (Queen Elizabeth was a big fan of the high ruff), and shoes. Brides would wear their best gown and kirtle (petticoat), or even a new gown if the money was available.

My favorite dress from Elizabeth: The Golden Age. The lace ruff and accompanying crystal necklace are incredible.

Corsets with fan lacing; also known as camp corsets were made so that it was possible for women to put on their corsets without the help of a maid.
