Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis! (AKA) Jackie O, or Jackie Kennedy. This woman is the DEFINITION of class and etiquette. She's an amazing and powerful woman who reinvented the role of first lady, and an amazing fashion icon.

18 Years Ago, the World Lost Jackie Kennedy Onassis. On May 19, 1994, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis passed away after battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of cancer. The world will never forget the former first lady, fashion icon, and publishing executive.
Jacqueline Kennedy - John F. Kennedy’s wife was the first first lady to hire a press secretary and a White House curator. She also won an Emmy Award for her television tour of the White House.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Former First Lady of the United States Jacqueline Lee "Jackie" Kennedy Onassis was the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and First Lady of the United States during his presidency. Born: July 28, 1929 Died: May 19, 1994
Jackie Kennedy... Jacqueline Lee "Jackie" Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (July 28, 1929 – May 19, 1994), was the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and 37th First Lady during his presidency from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. Five years later she married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis; they remained married until his death in 1975.
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, American First Lady, Editor, Equestrian, Style Icon. I admire her for teaching a nation how to have dignity at the age of 34. For her style, knowledge of History, her love of books and poetry but mostly for her strength and courage. And for doing it her way. "To bend, but not to break; to yield but not capitulate."
Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. I had the opportunity to speak with her in Feb., 1991 at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum.

Summer is here and at DejaVu Vintage Finery in Palms Springs, We are gearing up with a wonderful selection of summer vintage dresses. One of our favorite designers of these great retro summer shifts, is Lily Pulitzer, known for her bright colorful sleeveless dresses of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Lilly didn’t start out as a dress designer, but fate and creativity sent her in a direction as a style icon that she never expected. Lilly and Peter Pulitzer settled in Palm Beach, Florida, shortly after their marriage in the early 1950’s. Peter owned several Florida citrus groves. Lilly opened a juice stand in Palm Beach Florida where she decided to make colorful Sleeveless dresses for herself to hide the stains. These sleeveless shift dresses made of bright, colorful printed cotton were admired by her customers. so she produced more in order to sell them at her juice stand. Eventually, she was selling more dresses than juice, and decided to focus on designing and selling what had become known as her "Lillys". Lilly's schoolmate Jacqueline Kennedy (former first lady) wore one of the dresses while on vacation. After Jacqueline was photographed, people everywhere wanted the dresses designed by Lilly. In 1959, Lilly became president of her own company, Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. The company's main factory was located in Miami, Florida .From the 1960s to the early 1980s, Lilly's bright, colorful clothes were very popular, worn by elites such as First Lady Jackie Kennedy and her daughter Caroline, and members of the Rockefeller, Vanderbilt and Whitney families. In 1984 Lilly retired, closing down her entire clothing operation. In 1993, the rights to the brand were purchased by Sugartown Worldwide, Inc. Lilly is not involved in the day to day administration of the company, but she continues to serve in the role of creative consultant, approving new designs, fabrics, and collections, and branching out into other product lines. At Deja Vu Vintage Finery, we have multiple styles of the Lilly Pulizter collections in pristine vintage condition. Below is just a glimpse of what we currently have in or inverntory! Come stop by Deja Vu to see the complete collection by Lilly Pulitzer. If you see any dressesyou would like us to put on hold or would like to purchase, please call the store! Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was arguable the most influential fashion icon of the nineties, and her style still holds up almost 20 years later. Here are some of the components of her signature look.
I’ve been thinking a lot over the last couple of days, as we approach September, about the feeling of the new season and the new minimalism mood. As much as it pains me to wave a sad farewell to summer, it’s nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel of sale rails. The question is how to work the look without looking like a frump. Mid-calf length skirts, pointy-toed kitten heels and ladylike bags are all well and good on a supermodel strutting down Marc Jacobs’ catwalk but in real life, not so sexy. What I need is a role model, someone who works the look and shows us all how to do it. Minimalism has been away so long that these people are in short supply. Looking through photographs for an unrelated project, I stumbled across some pictures of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, who was briefly married to JFK Jr before they were both killed (along with Carolyn’s older sister, Lauren) in a plane crash off Martha’s Vineyard in 1999. CBK was the ultimate ‘90s girl – she worked in a Calvin Klein shop in Boston before moving to New York and becoming a publicist. She met Kennedy running In Central Park and they married in 1996. Frequent subjects of the paparrazzi, the pair were photographed both on the street walking their dog and attending black tie events. CBK was the epitome of minimal style. Simple, pared back, chic – she could have stepped off a number of A/W ‘10 runways – Celine, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, and, of course, Calvin Klein. So how did she manage to make a simple black jumper or shift dress look sexy? Her trademarks were her red lips, her blonde hair (worn either loose or in an easy, low bun or ponytail), a white shirt and great accessories. Just check out her Hermes Birkin bag. It’s undeniable that she had the ultimate in ‘accessories’ in the shape of her handsome, iconic husband. How could she fail to look amazing perched on his knee or arm in arm? But her smile and poise are things we can all attempt.

Była wyznawcą najlepszej - jeśli chodzi o ubiór - filozofii less is more. Proste kreacje, eleganckie dodatki dobierane z ogromną starannością - to domena jej stylu. Często nosiła wełniany płaszcz ozdobiony paskiem i duże okulary przeciwsłoneczne. Lubiła kobiece i dopasowane stroje w pastelowych odcieniach. Nie bała się również kontrastów w modzie. Na początku 1994 roku zdiagnozowano u niej raka. Zmarła w maju tegoż roku.
