This is a calming jar. Instead of timers for time out. Use this. Shake it up, and place it in front of your LO. Explain to them that when it's all shook up, that's how their mind is when they are angry/frustrated/over-whelmed. That sitting there watching all the glitter fall to the bottom will help them calm down, and when they calmed down they can see clearly again.
Uh Oh Jar - LOVE this idea. It was getting hard always sending someone to their room or to the corner. Nothing seemed to change - but now...I'm making a consequence jar like this. Whining? Pull out a consequence. Talking back? Pull out a consequence. Not picking up your things? Pull out a consequence, maybe you'll get "Your lucky day. No consequence THIS TIME."
Calm Down Jar This cute Time Out idea was on Pinterest and I decided I must make one! All I did was fill up a pint jar with water, 1 drop of blue food coloring and some glitter. I have whichever kid is "doing time" shake the bottle and watch it settle. Once the glitter has settled, they've had time to calm down and talk about their problem. It's quite soothing actually
