When students participate when no one else is or answer a challenging question they can get 'smart beads' to wear. they trade in smart beads at the end of the day for a little note that goes home to their parents! AWESOME :)   .....I like this uses parent praise as the rewards, and recognized academic achievements.

Absent folder is put on my absent student's desk.  The students at their table will make sure they get all of the work we do that day put in their folder.  I do check their folder at the end of the day and make sure there are not tests or activities that can only be done whole class.

"I'm Done!" jar for when students are finished early: write some activities on popsicle sticks, and when students finish early, direct them to the jar where they'll pull a stick and do the activity listed. No more "I'm done! I'm done!
