The Marber Grid was developed in 1961 by Polish graphic designer, Romek Marber, for Penguin book covers. This grid layout is admired by many designers and is example of how a well-designed grid can stand the test of time.

Puffin Picture Book: The Building of London (1945). In 1939, Noel Carrington met Allen Lane, founder of Penguin Books, and put to him an idea for a series of children's non-fiction picture books. The idea behind the books was that they would be useful, beautiful and accessible. The Puffin Picture Book series was launched in 1940 and ran until 1965.
