DIY Revive old shoes. Things needed: Old flats, Fabric, Scissors, Outdoor Mod Podge, Brush & Exacto Knife. 1) Lay a piece of fabric over the shoe (Big enough to cover the entire shoes & trim around the edges so there’s not a lot left hanging over) 2) Make a slit up the back to where your shoes rounds (Almost to the top of the scoop) 3) Apply Mod Podge to the toe of the shoe & lay your fabric on top (Stretch/Pull out the fabric while you’re putting it on the shoe so it can be nice & smooth) &...

You can find a lot of ballet flats at thrift stores for $2 - $5 a pair. Designer ballet flats are roughly anywhere from $60 to $250. So this can be a really cool, creative, and money saving hobby to get into. Plus, there are tons of skirts, starting at $3, available at those same thrift stores, to pair these with most of the time.

Bojka Bug: A VW Beetle Covered in Vintage Fabrics
Going through my newspapers and magazines cuttings, I stumbled into an image of one of Bojka's designs, that I had put aside for my references a while ago. The creators of these amazing designs are Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hibri from Beirut. I can only describe their work as fun, with sense of humour and incredible stylish. What initially attracted me was the patterns of the textiles and colours. I love the clashing of prints, and textures not mentioning the quality of the fabric on these chairs, very inspiring. The question is, would you have these screaming chairs in your home? Yes I would, as a one off or two at the most. But then again, it depends on how much space, and your creative eye on displaying them. In conclusion, I can not end this post without mentioning the Bojka Bug. The creation of amazing patchwork on the classic Volkswagen beetle, that was covered with vintage fabrics from the Middle East. .....read more about Bojka http://www.bokjadesign.com/#/ourstorydesc http://inspirebohemia.blogspot.com/2010/02/bokja-design-suzni-furniture-heaven.html http://www.greendiary.com/entry/iconic-volkswagen-beetle-draped-in-colorful-vintage-fabrics/

I love making boring everyday things, unboring and un-everyday :) I am slowly transforming the things in my house to reflect that :) Here is my latest decoupage project; I think I probably have Kristen to thank because she was the one who first introduced me to the wonderful bliss of Mod Podge in college! Then I found this site and the creative projects just took off! I started by cleaning the whole cabinet and taking out the drawers. I also took off the handles, but unfortunately no amount of unscrewing and hand tools could get the lock out, so I just left it on :( The I measured and cut my fabric. After that easy breezy, paint down your decoupage and then lay your fabric over it. I also coated the outside with another layer of Mod Podge. While I was at it I figured I would make a matching light switch cover too! :)

Vintage Sheets to cover shelving
Vintage Fabric Covered Shelves
The Vintage Sheet Blog
I've slowly but steadily been making some progress on my studio. Up until recently, I've been scrounging around for my crafting supplies amongst 15 half-unpacked boxes sitting smack dab in the middle of the room. It didn't really lend itself to a very efficient or organized creative process - both of which I lack in even the best of circumstances. While I was hoping to thrift or purchase some sort of lovely storage system, our budget didn't have room for anything to my liking, so we ended up installing a super cheap track shelving system. It definitely gets the job done, but isn't very pretty to look at - especially when all that we were using as the shelves themselves were 6 foot unfinished pine boards. I decided to pretty them up with some vintage sheets this past weekend, and here's how I did it.... First I painted the boards with two coats of primer. I'm not entirely sure if this is a necessary step, but some of the sheets were on the sheer side, so it keeps the knots and the wood grain from showing through. Starting at one end, I coated a section of the board in spray adhesive and smoothed the sheet flat. I continued all the way down the board until the first side was covered. Then I flipped it over and did the same thing to the other side. I folded the ends up - gift wrap style - after giving it another good shot of spray adhesive. Then I painted a good coat of Mod Podge all the way down the seam and on the folded over edges. And voila! It took about 15 minutes in the sunshine to dry, and I had them screwed into the shelving system in no time. Overall this project took maybe an hour to complete and didn't even use up the entire can of adhesive. Even my husband was impressed at how smooth and clean they turned out. And I thought for sure I was going to end up in a sticky mess of glue and frayed sheets. The only thing left to do is load it up with craft supplies and think about what else I'm going to cover in fabric!

A baking sheet turned into a decorative tray! - This one was done with fabric, but chevron could be achieved by painting one color, taping off the chevron pattern, painting again with the second color, removing the tape and sealing with a clear top coat/sealer. This would eliminate the need for the acrylic sheet cut to size (not so easy to find around here)

I've been on the lookout recently for some sweet decorative trays that fit my style, budget, and decor... and then I found this awesome DIY project! It's kind of a no-brainer, really. Heck, it's brilliant. Rebecca Robertson, the decorating editor behind Martha Stewart magazine, recently created this simple how-to and I can't stop thinking of all the possibilities. To get started, all you need is the following: 1 yard decorative fabric Aluminum rimmed baking sheet Spray adhesive Scissors Fabric glue Synthetic felt 1/4-inch-thick acrylic sheet cut to fit inside of tray, with corners She uses a very, very, VERY...

wow...it's been a long time since I blogged about crafts. I seem to have GREAT difficulty focusing on one thing long enough to actually complete a project... until today:) these are soooo easy and fun to do. first up... Flip-Flop Fun! (we do LOVE our flip flops down here:) this would be perfect and easy to do with kids, summer camps...anyone! Here is the pic and click here...HUDDLE MO for the tutorial. i made some today. cute...but not quite as cute as hers. still...you can see the potential:) next...grab any old canning jars, vases, bottles... get out your glue gun and write words on them...if you like. after drying, go out and coat your goodies in spray paint. I like matte paint for this project personally. See...there could be a MILLION uses for these jars... and they look great in white, pink, aqua... and can you imagine how cute in orange or black for Halloween, red/green for Christmas... yep...pretty COOL! along the same lines... take a canvas...any size...and glue wooden letters... any size or shape...to the canvas. you guessed it...then you spray paint it all one color. stuff like this is all over the place these days. I am absolutely going to make my version of this! finally... a vintage doily table runner. OH. MY. GOSH. is this amazing or WHAT????? I don't know exactly what was done but I imagine a bit of sewing together doilies and VOILA! so there...cool craft ideas:) by the way, i found my inspiration on PINTEREST! I am TOTALLY addicted to this site. if you love pictures, inspiration, photography...anything, check it out. yes, like always, there are a few who try to ruin it... but it is BY FAR the cleanest, nicest photo site I've found. you create "boards" and then "Pin" your favorite photos...from their site or anywhere on the internet. it is beyond awesome, so check it out. if you click HERE...it will take you to MY Pinterest site. say hi...so I can find you and follow your boards too! XOXOXO Suzanne
