Humming bird nest. We literally had these All around our house. Where we lived salmon berry bushes grew abundantly and the hummingbirds loved making nests in them. Such a delight to be able to show my young children their nests with the small little eggs or baby birds in them! #aww #cute #birds #hummingbird #animals #nature

Humming bird nest. Last year momma hummingbird built a nest at eye level outside our back door. My heart swelled with joy every time I remembered and saw her there. Soon we saw little beaks poking above the top. For weeks momma brought food. She always fed the bigger chick first. In the end the two little chicks were bigger than mom and bursting out of the nest! The hummingbirds have returned to our garden, I wonder where they will nest this year?

Reusing an old door as a Garden Gate. This could work as well. Interesting idea. My Mom's garden door was green. I couldn't take it & so it went with the house. I feel so bad for that.
Old Doors in the Garden... I love the look of a salvaged door in the garden. I've seen them used beautifully as garden gates or as trellises for vines. Either way, I think they're completely charming and perfect for a shabby chic or English country

Oleander - An exceptionally easy-care subtropical shrub, oleander offers summertime flowers in shades of pink, red, purple, lilac, yellow, and white. In fact, it's so foolproof that in many areas it's grown along the sides of highways in warm-weather areas. Note, though: Oleander is extremely poisonous.

Oleander thrives with little care in California and the Deep South. The 12- to 15-foot-tall shrub tolerates drought, heat, wind, and air pollution. Its dark, leathery leaves form a lovely backdrop for its pink, peach, white, or red blooms. Test Garden Tip: All parts of the plant are poisonous, so avoid planting it in areas used by pets and small children. Name: Nerium selections Zones: 8 - 11/
Nerium ~Oleander. Oleander is one of the most toxic, commonly grown garden plants in the world — and oddly enough, it's often found in schoolyards. Ingesting any part of this plant can be deadly, especially for children. Even smoke from burning oleander can be fatal. In fact, according to the Toxic Exposure Surveillance System (TESS), there were 847 known human poisonings in the United States related to oleander in 2002.

Oleander - blooms all summer, drought tolerant, easy to grow. Nerium oleander is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the dogbane family Apocynaceae, toxic in all its parts. It is most commonly known as oleander, from its superficial resemblance to the unrelated olive Olea. It is so widely cultivated that no precise region of origin has been identified, though southwest Asia has been suggested. Oleander is one of the most poisonous of commonly grown garden plants.

Please, do not put honey, Jell-O, brown sugar, fruit, or red food coloring in your feeder! Honey ferments rapidly when diluted with water and can cause mouth sores and even kill hummingbirds. The red dye has NO beneficial ingredients, and it is not necessary to color the water to attract birds to your feeder. Further, there are unverified reports that red dye can cause tumors in hummers.

Butterfly weed or Milkweed. A must in the Michigan butterfly garden. This is the plant on which Monarch Butterflies lay their eggs. Roundup used by farmers and the continual over-sprays are killing large numbers of this plant and therefore aiding in the decline of the Monarch butterfly.
Butterfly weed - This perennial likes dry, sunny areas, so it will be especially happy in your full-sun perennial border. Reaching 2-4 feet tall, it's ideal for the midsection of the border or planted with ornamental grasses in a naturalized area. ... food source for Monarch butterfly caterpillars. It also provides nectar for hummingbirds and other butterflies.
ASCLEPIAS TUBEROSA - Butterfly weed. Monarch butterflies only lay their eggs on plants in the asclepiad family (syrica, tuberosa, incarnata, and probably others I don't know yet). Its flowers provide nectar to all types of insect pollinators.

Butterflyweed. If you love monarch butterflies, then don’t skip this plant. Although called a weed, don’t let that deter you. The bright orange flowers are actually quite stunning, and can act as a great accent colour. The butterfly weed normally grows about 3 ft tall and is great as a border plant in your landscape designs. If you do not want the plant to spread, be sure to deadhead the old blossoms before they seed.

Butterfly weed - Brightly colored butterfly weed is a butterfly magnet, attracting many kinds of butterflies to its colorful blooms. Monarch butterfly larvae feed on its leaves but seldom harm this native plant. It is slow to emerge in the spring, so mark its location to avoid accidental digging before new growth starts. If you don't want it to spread, deadhead faded blooms before seedpods mature. It is sometimes called milkweed because it produces a milky sap when cut. #flower #butterfly

Once you find that out, not with logic, not with the intellect, but because you can feel that Life, you find out that you are the force that makes the flowers open and close, that makes the hummingbird fly from flower to flower. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Messengers-of-Spirit/105408806213831
