Explore Haida Totem, Art Art Projects, and more!

this image gave me the idea of totem pole - perhaps with a harmony day multicultural theme - get students to look at dancers, athletes from around the globe and cut out contours

Although totem poles have become a symbol of all Northwest Coast Native people and their use has spread to neighboring tribes through the years, tall multiple-figure poles were first made only by the northern Northwest Coast Haida, Tlingit, and Tsimshian peoples in Southeast Alaska and British Columbia.

Niles North Sculpture Project Volunteers from the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park and Niles High Schools gathered in the Park on Oct. 21 to assemble some ceramic boxes created by Niles North High School art students. The totem pole like assemblies were stacked on PVC pipes in Section III and epoxied together.
