In I, Robot by Issac Asimov, the story Runaround features the first explicit stating of the Three Laws of Robotics, which have since pervaded science fiction. As robots become more of a science fact, one should consider if we should implement something similar. - sjp
The 2004 film "I, Robot" was more inspired by than directly based on Isaac Asimov's collection of short stories, but they both focus on Asimov's idea of the Three Laws of Robotics, and what happens when robots interpret the laws in ways their creators did not intend. Check out the book!
I, Robot by Isaac Asimov - The classic that gave us the Laws of Robotics. Science Fiction meets science fact.
The three laws of Robotics: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm 2) A robot must obey orders givein to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
I was turned on to science fiction back when I was about twelve. Asimov was one of the reasons.
Asimov chronicles the development of the robot through a series of interlinked stories: from its primitive origins in the present to its ultimate perfection in the not-so-distant future--a future in which humanity itself may be rendered obsolete. Here are stories of robots gone mad, of mind-read robots, and robots with a sense of humor. Of robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the world--all told with the dramatic blend of science fact and science fiction.

The result of genetic experimentation, Ender may be the military genius Earth desperately needs in a war against an alien enemy seeking to destroy all human life. The only way to find out is to throw Ender into ever harsher training, to chip away and find the diamond inside, or destroy him utterly. Ender Wiggin is six years old when it begins. The Other Boleyn Girl - this book started my passion for reading and historical fiction and Henry VIII
'The Other Boleyn Girl ' by Philippa Gregory: The daughters of a ruthlessly ambitious family, Mary and Anne Boleyn are sent to the court of Henry VIII to attract the attention of the king, who first takes Mary as his mistress, in which role she bears him an illegitimate son, and then Anne as his wife.
Phillipa Gregory's "The Other Boleyn Girl." Great read, a bit of a slow start, but overall very interesting. This book features Anne's sister Mary a mistress to guess who, Henry VIII. Talk about sibling rivalry.
I love historical fiction. King Henry VIII fascinates me, so I thought The Other Boleyn Girl was great.

The Stephanie Plum novels! A bounty hunter from Trenton, NJ? Heck yes! I think I'm on book 6 right now. Oh and I refuse to believe Katherine Heigl was the right choice to play Stephanie in the screen adaptation.
This is my next Stephanie Plum book to read. I've read them all in this series and laugh out loud while I'm reading them.

The book tells the story of a man, who is always referred to simply as The Time Traveler, who invents a time machine, which takes him to the year 802,701. Description from riveraroxane.blogspot.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images
Wells first novel, "The Time Machine", was a big hit and one of the first novels to mention time travel. Wells went on to write several other novels. Some even went on to become motion pictures, for example; War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, and The Invisible Man.
Within H.G. Wells novel, The Time Machine, natural degeneration in general occurs within two social classes. The Time traveller flushed with excitement invents a time machine that explores three different time scales that explore the future of the human race. A utopian dream unfortunately soured into a dangerous illusion.
The Time Machine is a science fiction novella by H. G. Wells, published in 1895 This story is generally credited with the popularisation of the concept of time travel using a vehicle that allows an operator to travel purposefully and selectively. The term "time machine", coined by Wells, is now universally used to refer to such a vehicle. This work is an early example of the Dying Earth subgenre.
The Time Machine, by HG Wells an oldtime favorite...Which two books would you take to the future??

For Mitch Albom it was his college professor. After 20 years, he rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man’s life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final “class”: lessons in how to live.Tuesdays with Morrie shares their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie’s lasting gift with the world.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. A book I wasn't attracted to, but read for book club. It was my gain.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - this is really more than a biography, but there is so much about Henrietta's life! Her cancerous cells, renamed HeLa cells, have been experimented upon for decades...this book explores the history of medicine and ethical issues in depth.
Dwight Garner of The New York Times wrote: I put down Rebecca Skloot’s first book, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” more than once. Ten times, probably. Once to poke the fire. Once to silence a pinging BlackBerry. And eight times to chase my wife and assorted visitors around the house, to tell them I was holding one of the most graceful and moving nonfiction books I’ve read in a very long time …It has brains and pacing and nerve and heart.
