use a touch light during small reading groups, when the light is on students cannot approach the teacher or interrupt. When the light is off they can ask questions. Kids love it you can find them at the dollar tree!

For teachers: Do you ever have a student that just needs to get out of the room for a minute and get a new perspective? Give them "The mysterious envelope" to deliver. (I like the "mystery student" idea too)
Homework club- If they turn all their homework in on time, then they get to stay in the club! If they don't then they are out of the club. Students who turn all their homework in for the entire month get to come to the monthly homework club lunch.
I use Rachael Ray's Garbage Bowl when I cook. Great idea for the class, too! Whenever the class is doing a cutting activity, put a "garbage bowl" on the table. It collects paper scraps and eliminates paper on the floor.
Students have to write in a log every time they do not turn in their homework on time and explain themselves. This helps teachers keep track of how many times the same student does not do his/her homework and establishes accountability.
If I could figure out a way to create something similar for Hall Rules, except in Spanish, then this would be applicable to my class. A good way to manage student behavior in the hallway when they are a part of your class at the moment.
Classroom Management Strategy/Target Behaviors--Put up 5 magnetic shapes on a cookie sheet near large group area. When someone interrupts, instead of saying something just take down a magnetic shape. Shapes left at the end can be counted toward.
