Nuth, Nith and Tamund - Meet Our 1st Students by Pencils of Promise. In March 2009, Pencils of Promise Founder Adam Braun turned around while resting one day in Pha Theung village, the site of our 1st school. He met three young girls without a school. Soon, they would become our first students.

CAN YOU SEE ME? Edeline Jean (age 7), on the foundation of her new school. Since the 2010 earthquake in Haiti destroyed Edeline Jean’s school, she has attended classes in a semi-enclosed makeshift structure on the school grounds. “I have to walk a lot to get to school, but it is not too difficult,” she said.
