PUA KUMBU BANKNOTES - Juliana Wuan In an answering the brief to revive a dying local culture, I was inspired to bring the traditional woven Iban textiles, also known as pua kumbu, into a modern context. As the function of this heirloom cloth was to be used in all aspects of life, my design solution was to tell the story on an item that we use everyday as well – our money. Each banknote features a special motif used in the original weaving process.
