"As you grow older, you'll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don't you forget it - whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, he is trash.” ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird #books #read #HarperLee

Umm...these WERE my childhood. No, but really. The plot is great, and the various aspects that are so interwoven and the way that everything comes together in the end is just genius. I never get tired of reading these. And, as with other books I like, they can be read on a whole bunch of different levels (just for plot, critically, philosophically, etc.), which just makes them better every time. (I've read all of them in the American edition, the first three in French, and the first and part of the sixth British. I liked the British best, generally. Just so you know.)

Only read this for the first time a few years ago, and was mesmerised by both the story and the social history.

These were great! Can't wait for the movies.
