Albino Alligator: Although extremely rare, an albino alligator is exactly the same species, Alligator mississippiensis, as the roughly five million American alligators that inhabit the marshes and swamps of southeastern United States. The white color and pink eyes are the result of a genetically inherited condition that inhibits the production of melanin, the dark brown pigment responsible for natural coloration.

Enypniastes sp. looks like a jellyfish, but is actually a transparent sea cucumber. You are seeing its intestines. It is a deep sea creature.
Enypniastes Enypniastes is a deep sea cucumber that lives at depths of up to 16,400 feet. The red area is the animals mouth. Around it are tentacles, which scoop up edible mud from the seafloor. From there, it enters the creatures gut.

Census of Marine Life researchers discovered this unusual transparent sea cucumber (Enypniastes sp.) in the Gulf of Mexico. It creeps forward on its tentacles, sweeping detritus-rich sediment into its mouth. So far Census researchers have discovered more than 5,000 new species. They expect to find many more.

This pink see-through fantasia, Enypniastes, is a swimming sea cucumber seen about 2,500 metres deep in the Celebes Sea. In 2007 WHOI biologist Larry Madin led a team of scientists and photographers from the US and the Philippines on an expedition to explore biodiversity in the deep Celebes Sea, supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Geographic Society, and the WHOI Ocean Life Institute. The team used scuba diving, nets, cameras, and ROVs to study the deep sea in this area that has been called a "cradle of biodiversity for shallow water marine animals" Picture: CENSUS OF MARINE LIFE / Laurence Madin, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

In nature and the ocean is a Flapjack Octopus made famous in Finding Nemo...the babel fish from HHGTTG anybody?
Deep sea creature of the day! Dumbo Octopus, Grimpoteuthis, Depth 300-5000 metres... i found my sea spirit animal
The #dumbo #octopus (Grimpoteuthis) is a deep sea animal that lives on the ocean floor at extreme depths of 9,800 to 13,000 feet. They are small animals, around 8 inches tall, and have a pair of fins located on their mantle—their namesake—and webbing between their arms. Grimpoteuthis swim often hover just above the seafloor looking for snails, worms, and other food.
ohstanley: Deep sea creature of the day! Dumbo Octopus, Grimpoteuthis, Depth 300-5000 metres, size 20 cm :))) Super cute, I want it!!
Here is a photo of DUMBO OCTOPUS. An interesting animal from deep sea. about dumbo octopus wikipedia-English bi garip bi enteresan,bi komik sanki dil çıkarıyor gibi.
You might remember Pearl, the pink octopus in Finding Nemo who so famously says, "Aaawww, you guys made me ink!" Well, the Flapjack Octopus (Opisthoteuthis californiana) is the actual animal that Pearl was modeled after - except for one important flaw in the animator's design. The Flapjack Octopus is a deep sea creature, so Pearl could have never been able to survive at the shallow depths Nemo and his friends hung out in.
Dumbooctopus - The octopuses of the genus Grimpoteuthis are also known as “Dumbo octopuses” from the ear-like fins protruding from the top of their “heads” (actually bodies), resembling the ears of Walt Disney’s flying elephant. They are benthic creatures, living at extreme depths, and are some of the rarest of the Octopoda species. They can flush the transparent layer of their skin at will, and are open ocean animals, unlike most octopi.
Dumbo Octopus It isn’t hard to guess after who the dumbo octopus is named after. He is named after his ear like fins, just like in the disney film Dumbo where a little elephant is named after his enormeous ears, with which he could fly! Dumbo octopus is a deep sea creature, which lives on great depths, around 300 and 400 meters below surface. Dumbo octopus belongs to the genus of Grimpoteuthis, a genus which consists out of fourteen other similiar species.

This is an Axolotls - a real amphibian - The axolotl or Mexican salamander is a neotenic salamander, closely related to the Tiger salamander. Larvae of this species fail to undergo metamorphosis, so the adults remain aquatic and gilled. It is also called ajolote. - This thing is awesome
While on the subject of pets... Please get one of these amazing looking things for your fish tank...It is called an Axolotl...
This critter is a type of salamander native to Mexico. Axolotls prefer to have a large, cool tank with a gravel bottom all to themselves. If owners are attentive to their pet's water quality and diet, these animals can live 10–15 years. It helps that they have amazing regenerative abilities. Axolotls are able to heal rapidly and even regrow limbs.
Weirdest-Looking Animal You Didn't Know Existed. The Axolotl is a Mexican neotenic mole salamander.
Axolotl - Mexican Salamander. I can't believe this little creature is for real!! Cutest ever.
Mexican salamander (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a neotenic salamander, closely related to the Tiger salamander. Axolotls exhibit a property called neoteny, meaning that they reach sexual maturity without undergoing metamorphosis. Many species within the axolotl's genus are either entirely neotenic or have neotenic populations. Unlike some other neotenic salamanders (Sirens and Necturus), axolotls can be induced to metamorphose by an injection of iodine or by shots of thyroxine hormone.
An Axolotl also known as a Mexican salamander...Or the creature from my nightmares.

From the Ocean Conservancy Society: This cute and strange animal looks like a Pokemon, but it’s a real creature called the Banded Piglet Squid (Helicocranchia pfefferi).
Known officially as Helicocranchia Pfefferi, the cuter than cute Banded Piglet Squid is a welcome relief from the bug-eyed, big-toothed menagerie of horror that seems to typify deep sea life. The squid lives in the dim middle-ocean layer several thousand feet beneath the surface.
Piglet Squid - nature never ceases to amaze me. The piglet squid (Helicocranchia pfefferi), named because of its rotund shape, is normally found in the darkness more than 320 feet (100m) below the surface of the ocean. In this image the squid looks to be smiling. http://www.360classified.com/ http://www.facebook.com/360classified

The Banded Piglet squid is proof that not all deep sea creatures are nightmare inducing! They swim "upside down" compared to other squid, leaving him resembling a Muppet with his tentacles as the hair, the syphon as the nose, and his patterning appearing to be a smile. These guys live at least 100 m below the surface. Because of those incredible depths, it has to create its own light from the photophores underneath its eyes. Not much is known about its life cycle or eating habits

Red Lipped Bat Fish: Found on the Galapagos Islands, this fish is actually a pretty bad swimmer, and uses its pectoral fins to walk on the bottom of the ocean.
The Rosy Lipped Batfish is an unusual looking fish found on the Galapagos Islands in depths of about 30m or even deeper.Batfish are not good swimmers; they use their pectoral fins to “walk” on the ocean floor. When the batfish reaches adulthood, its dorsal fin becomes a single spine-like projection that lures prey. Similar to the anglerfish the Red-Lipped Batfish has a structure on its head known as illicium. This structure is employed for attracting prey.Hmm, like lipstick on the crazy chick!
