Greatest American Hero! *LOVE*LOVED* this show growing up!
Greatest American Hero. I thought this was the funniest show when I was a kid. Now I can't remember anything about it but the song and except that he couldn't figure out how to fly.
haha! I remember this show! The Greatest American Hero - Look at what's happened to me, I can't believe it myself; Suddenly I'm up on top of the world, Should've been somebody else. Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air, I never thought I could feel so free; Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r, Who could it be? Believe it or not, it's just me. Just like the light of new day, It hit me from out of the blue; Breakin' me out of the spell I was in, Makin' all of my wishes come true.

Saturday Night Fever
Discs, 70 S, 70S, Cow Gives, Saturday Night Fever, Favorite Movies, Dance, John Travolta
Saturday Night Fever is a 1977 drama film directed by John Badham and starring: John Travolta as Tony Manero, an immature young man whose weekends are spent visiting a local Brooklyn discothèque; Karen Lynn Gorney as his dance partner and eventual friend; and Donna Pescow as Tony's former dance partner and would-be girlfriend. While in the disco, Tony is the king. His care-free youth and weekend dancing help him to temporarily forget the reality of his life: a dead end job, clashes with his unsupportive and squabbling parents, racial tensions in the local community, and his associations with a gang of macho friends. A huge commercial success, the film significantly helped to popularize disco music around the world and made Travolta, already well known from his role on TV's Welcome Back, Kotter, a household name. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, featuring disco songs by the Bee Gees, is the best selling soundtrack of all time. The film is the first example of cross-media marketing, with the tie-in soundtrack's single being used to help promote the film before its release and the film popularizing the entire soundtrack after its release. The film also showcased aspects of the music, the dancing, and the subculture surrounding the disco era: symphony-orchestrated melodies, haute-couture styles of clothing, pre-AIDS sexual promiscuity, and graceful choreography. The story is based upon a 1976 New York magazine article by British writer Nik Cohn, "Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night". In the late 1990s, Cohn acknowledged that the article had been fabricated. A newcomer to the United States and a stranger to the disco lifestyle, Cohn was unable to make any sense of the subculture he had been assigned to write about; instead, the character who became Tony Manero was based on a Mod acquaintance of Cohn's.
And then there was this 1977 movie. My favorite movie of all time - because it defined the generation. Made a phenomena out of John Travolta, the Bee Gees, disco, and anything dance. Do the hustle!
“Saturday Night Fever” follows the story of 19 year old Brooklyn boy Tony Manero (JohnTravolta) as he strives to be the king of the disco floor. When Tony becomes infatuated with a girl on the dance floor, Stephanie (Karen Lynn Gorney), he invites her to be his partner in an upcoming dance competition. Stephanie eventually agrees, resulting in this very 70s style disco dance scene.

This TV show (and movie) was brilliant. It took you to a strange, alternate universe where questions were posed and the answers least expected were given. I think this is what taught me to enjoy literature and writing, as the writers of this show were true masters of their craft. And sometimes, I still expect to see Rod Sterling during some of the surreal episodes in my life, watching from a darkened corner smoking a cigarette.
The Twilight Zone One of the best TV shows ever made! (And not just because I have a thing for Rod Serling!)
