What a great way for a Math Centre in Kindergarten and beginning of grade one! Paint a file folder ocean blue, and then on the outside place an envelope with eyes and get your students to place the correct number of eyes (with the help of velcro) on to the octopus' arms!

Make it fine motor too - paint/glue trees on front of container with plastic snap on lids - cut out a hole on top smaller than the size of the pompoms you're going to use - that way, the kids have to poke and push the pompom in which uses some nice finger isolation movements
