The Dangers of Proximal Alphabets is a debut novel for Kathleen Alcott – but you wouldn’t know it from her writing. This is a complex story about three people: Ida, Jackson, and James. Jackson and James are brothers, and Ida the young girl who grew up with them. The three form a bond as close as family – cemented by mutual loss. They have each lost one parent.

She can't recall a time when she didn't have them around, whether in their early days camping out in the boys' room decorated with circus scenes or later drinking on rooftops as teenagers. While the world outside saw them as neighbors and friends, to each other the three formed a family unit-two brothers and a sister-not drawn from blood, but drawn from a de

The End of Men: And the Rise of Women by Hanna Rosin.A landmark portrait of women, men, and power in a transformed world. Men have been the dominant sex since, well, the dawn of mankind. But Hanna Rosin was the first to notice that this long-held truth is, astonishingly, no longer true. Click The Picture To Read More!
this sounds like it might be worth reading! The End of Men and the Rise of Women by Hannah Rosin. Listen to the story on NPR: How in some cases, specifically in areas where American manufacturing jobs have disappeared, there has been a shift in the workforce and in family dynamics due to women taking over the reins. #Women #The_End_of_Men #Hannah_Rosin
The End of Men // Review offered by John Drumm, Maring-Hunt Adult Services // Rosin describes the new reality of the rise of the women in the workforce not only in the US but also around the world. She concludes that if these changes lead to the redefinition of men’s roles the future will be different and better at the same time.
The End of Man and The Rise of Women, Hanna Rosin! Listen to Halli's conversation with Hanna. http://bit.ly/itunespin
Hanna Rosin explores the cultural shift of gender roles in favor of women in her new book, "The End of Men and the Rise of Women."
In Hanna Rosin's new book, The End of Men and the Rise of Women (Riverhead, 2012), she identifies this as a far-reaching cultural shift. Based on a feature Rosin wrote for The Atlantic, where she's a senior editor, this well-researched book offers a vivid and compelling picture of the decline of male power and the rise of female power in today's workplace, education and intimate relationships.

The Age of Miracles
Worth Reading, Miracles, Karen O'Neil, Books Worth, Age, Karen Thompson, Earth
New to the Book Club Collection is The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker, a luminous, haunting, and unforgettable debut novel about coming of age in California during a time when the Earth’s rate of rotation has slowed and the world is irrevocably altered.
the age of miracles: a novel by karen thompson walker - i read this over night in san diego, where (i think) the author is from. it created great tension, briefly. not a satisfying end, but i'm not sure a dystopian novel has a positive ending in mind
The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker 3.5 stars I was intrigued by the premise of this book, the effects of the earth's slowing rotation, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I enjoyed the book, but felt the ending was uneventful. The narrator of the book is a likable preteen girl so it reads a bit like a young adult novel. 07/24/12
The Age of Miracles A Novel by Karen Thompson Walker Imagines the coming-of-age story of young Julia, whose world is thrown into upheaval when it is discovered that the Earth's rotation has suddenly begun to slow, posing a catastrophic threat to all life.
The Age of Miracles: A Novel by Karen Thompson Walker, http://www.amazon.com/dp/0812992970/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_qsQRrb1QEE18T
Libby in Marketing highly recommends Karen Thompson Walker's new debut novel, "The Age of Miracles," a fantastical tale about a girl's life as the Earth's rotation begins to slow, affecting all life on the planet.
Karen Thompson Walker’s novel, The Age of Miracles, find out when they discover the Earth has begun to slow.
Such a good book, and an easy read ! definetly worth reading! The Age of Miracles: A Novel by Karen Thompson Walker - On a seemingly ordinary Saturday in a California suburb, Julia and her family awake to discover, along with the rest of the world, that the rotation of the earth has suddenly begun to slow. The days and nights grow longer and longer, gravity is affected, the environment is thrown into disarray. (Bilbary Town Library: Good for Readers, Good for Libraries)
