      ~Santa Hot Chocolate Bags~ Time consuming, but so cute! Use clear cake decorating bags, peppermint chips, 1/4 cup hot chocolate mix (separate into a "fold over" sandwich bag, twist into a ball and tuck remainder of bag in back of where face will be) and mini marshmallows. Insert a spoon for stirring then tie the bag with ribbon. Glue a white pom pom on top, googly eyes, felt nose and mouth & cotton for mustache. I also added a sticker on the back w/ instructions: add 1 cup hot water...

    Ten Frame Toss: This is a fun game to practice decomposing the number ten. To play, students shake and spill a cup of ten two-color counters onto the table.     BANG. You take turns drawing cards out of a container. If you can read the sight word you keep the card. If not, the card goes back in. Whoever collects the most cards wins the game. If you draw one of the BANG cards, you have to put back all of the cards you have collected....could be used for lots of different subjects/concepts!

    Torn Paper Owlets - We began by drawing the owl step-by-step and ripping brown paper to create the owl's feathers. Ripping the paper was a great way to work on fine motor skill development. The students practiced cutting by tracing two cups for the yellow eyes and cutting them out. They added details such as legs, eyes, and a beak to complete the baby owl.
